31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red,
when it sparkles in the cup,
when it goes down smoothly!
32 In the end it bites like a snake
and poisons like a viper.
PROVERBS 23:31-32 (NIV)
Daily Reflection: Do you tend to twist the Word of GOD to justify the choices you make?
Daily Inspiration: Be honest with yourself and start taking responsibility for your choices. The first step in making a positive change is admitting there is a problem. Many Christians justify drinking because it is stated throughout the Bible that drinking wine is OK. However, many choose to ignore the verses instructing us not to get drunk off of wine (or strong drink). I believe it is wise to say that many may not have even read the above verses. So please use wisdom in all areas of your life, including "social" drinking. Everything is to be done in moderation. And if you are honest with yourself and realize that you have issues with certain sins (drinking is not the sin.....getting drunk is the sin), then do not place yourself in settings that will cause you to stumble. This goes for the people you choose to surround yourself with too. If you have a friend who tries to encourage you to do the very thing you struggle with (dieting, alcohol, sex, etc.) then that person is not a friend and you need to cut them loose. Start making wise decisions, not emotional decisions. Every action has a consequence (good or bad) so think it through before you decide to go through. Amen.
