Don't Lie!

Wednesday~August 5, 2009

27Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.
28Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

PROVERBS 3:27-28 (kjv)

27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act.
28 Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow"— when you now have it with you.

PROVERBS 3:27-28 (niv)

Have you ever been asked by someone for help (money, assistance, etc.)? Were you in the position to meet their need at that moment? But did you, for your own selfish reason, tell them you didn't have it (no money on you, no time at the moment, etc.) and instead, told the person you would be able to help them at a later date? That is a lie. If it were you, wouldn't you want someone to help you, if they could, when you asked? So do as God says and - "Do unto others as you would want done to you". So if you want people to lie to you, by all means, keep on lying. If you want honesty, then be honest, all the time (you reap what you sow). Amen.

Shannon,

I agree with you to a certain degree here. There's a whole lot more involved in just handing over money to someone. You don't just give money to a drug addict, alcholic or a gambler, etc. That's enabling them in their addiction. I prefer to look at it as if they're need food or shelter, etc, then I will help. It depends entirely on the situation at hand. But, as for as helping someone out in some capacity, yes!
