Thought To Ponder
Proverbs 18:19 A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, And contentions are like the bars of a castle.
Good Morning and Happy Friday!!!
Whatever happened to what your mama used to say -- "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything"?
As Christians we know that the words we speak should be praises to the Lord (PSALM 35:28). We should not be using our tongue to offend or hurt or tear down a fellow believer (brother and sister) in Christ Jesus. God instructed us to edify the Body of Christ. We are all facing storm, trials and tribulation so we need encouraging words, not opinions and two cents that are not edifying to the hearer. Uplift each other without telling others how to act or feel (emotion wise). It truly does not bother me if someone is a cry baby, sensitive. It does bother me when someone seems cold, heartless and uncaring and say they are Christian. God says we are to mourn together, rejoice together. We are to sympathize with our brothers and sisters and anyone who says otherwise you truly need to be watchful of. We are individuals as God made us, and I refuse to question anyones emotions (or lack thereof) because God is the Creator of ALL, so the creation (us) have no business telling another creation how they should be. God has the blueprint to each person. Let us stop judging each other in how we think they should react if they feel they were offended. YES, we are to EXPOSE sin, but nowhere is it written that feelings (and offenses) are sins. Got a problem? Take it to the Creator. Amen.
Jesus made EVERY effort to try not to offend, anyone (Jew or Gentile). To the point that He even paid taxes (MATT. 17:27) when He didn't really have to. I continue to point out that fact because it shows how He truly tried not to offend NON-BELIEVERS, that much more as we are to NOT offend BELIEVERS, says the Lord of Heaven. Amen.
A wise man holds back his feelings (thoughts), a fool vents all of his feelings (PROV. 29:11). A wise man prays more and talks less relying on God to show them the errors of their own way (JOB 6:24). A wise man respects all people, even those he doesn't see "eye to eye" with. A fool belittles by telling you how something is wrong with you. A wise man gently instructs. Wisdom comes from a closed mouth and open ears. Fools have closed ears and open mouths.
The TONGUE has the power or LIFE and DEATH in it. If you follow Christ Jesus, you will use your tongue to give LIFE. Pleasant words are sweetness to the soul and health to the bones (PROV. 16:24). If you allow your mouth to give DEATH (say things to hurt and tear down others) then you are not following Christ Jesus. So the next time you feel the need to open that, mouth, ask yourself this --- "Is this helpful or potentially offensive to the hearer?"
Meditate On: Psalm 15:3 He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;
